Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and implementing penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets targeted the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were injured.

The assaults come after nights of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the national power system, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were bracing for further attacks.
